How Long It Takes
A single torsion spring replacement is usually under an hour once we're on site, since it's a known part and a known process. Two springs on a double door, plus new bearing plates if the old ones are worn, runs closer to ninety minutes. Off-track doors depend on what caused it - a bent track can be pulled back into shape in the same visit, but a track that's kinked from a car impact sometimes needs a section replaced, which means a return trip if we don't have that length on the truck. Opener repairs are usually the fastest job we do; most are a sensor alignment, a logic board reset, or a belt swap. Full door replacement is a different animal - that's typically a half-day job once the door itself is on hand, longer if it's a custom size. We won't promise a same-day fix on parts we don't stock, and specialty sizes or older discontinued panel styles can mean a lead time we don't control. That's the one honest limit here: if your door is a size nobody makes anymore, we can extend its life, but we can't always match it exactly.
Why It Happens Here
Loveland sits in a cold climate zone with severe winter conditions, and that matters more for garage doors than most people expect. Steel contracts in hard freezes, and a torsion spring that's already fatigued from years of cycling is far more likely to snap on a fifteen-degree morning than a warm afternoon. We see a spike in spring failures every winter for exactly that reason. The other piece is age. Because so much of the local housing went up between 1975 and 2012, with the heaviest concentration around 2003, a large share of Loveland's garage doors are now old enough that their original hardware is simply worn out - springs, rollers, and cables all have a working life, and a door installed during that build boom is reaching the end of it right about now. Add the cold-weather stress on top of hardware that's already tired, and you get the pattern we see every January and February: a run of snapped springs, seized openers, and doors that won't seal tight against the cold once the weatherstrip has hardened and cracked.
